How we review Medicube
We are an independent guide, not Medicube. No sponsored placements, no invented star ratings, and no pretending a serum changed our life. Here is exactly what we do and what we do not do.
What we actually use
- Real customer ratings and review counts. A serum with tens of thousands of ratings at 4.6 tells you something a glossy launch campaign cannot. Volume matters as much as the score.
- Live prices. Prices on this site are pulled live from Amazon when the page loads, not saved from weeks ago. Medicube runs frequent bundle deals, so what you see is what you would pay right now.
- Reviews from beyond Amazon. For most products we also read the rating for the same item on UK beauty retailers such as Cult Beauty, LookFantastic, Sephora UK and Boots, plus Medicube's own site. When something is loved on Amazon but rated lower elsewhere, that gap is worth knowing, and we show it side by side with a link to each source so you can check it yourself.
- Ingredients and skin-type fit. This is skincare, so we look past the star rating to the actual formula: the active (PDRN, collagen, niacinamide, PHA), the concentration where it is stated, and who a product suits or irritates. Cost per use and per ml usually matters more than the sticker price.
What we do not do
- We do not invent ratings. If a product has no meaningful reviews yet, it is labelled as a new listing rather than given a made-up score.
- We do not call a 3-star product a holy grail. Our write-ups match the actual data. A mixed rating gets described as mixed.
- We do not take payment for placement. Medicube cannot buy a spot or a kinder verdict, and we are in no way affiliated with the brand.
- We do not show stale prices. Where we display a price it is fetched live, never saved from weeks ago.
- We do not fake hands-on testing. Where a verdict is based on aggregated ratings and ingredient analysis rather than our own use, that is exactly what we say.
About those "beyond Amazon" ratings
Where you see a Beyond Amazon panel, we have found the same product on a UK beauty retailer's own site and read its rating there. Two honest caveats. First, we only show it when the retailer has a meaningful number of reviews, because a handful of ratings tells you nothing. Second, a shop's product rating measures the product, whereas a company's Trustpilot score measures the company's service, which is a different thing. We do not mix the two up, and we do not copy anyone's review text. We link to every source so you can read it at first hand.
How we choose what to compare
A comparison only earns a page if it is genuinely useful. That means two things: within-range picks (which Age-R device, PDRN or Collagen, serum or ampoule) where the choice is real and confusing, and honest dupe comparisons where a cheaper or better-known product delivers the same active. If a comparison would help nobody, we do not manufacture it.
How we make money
We plan to fund this site with affiliate commissions, but we are not earning from it yet. Right now our product links are plain Amazon links with no tracking attached. When that changes we will say so on every page. Our affiliate disclosure is kept up to date.
Keeping it current
Ratings and review counts are refreshed regularly, prices are live on every page load, and each review shows when it was last updated. Our product data was last refreshed on 1 August 2026. We currently track 64 products across 8 categories, and we would rather cover fewer things properly than list everything badly.
